Arizona Community Dialogue on
Climate Change
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Arizona
Science Center, and the Association of Science-Technology Centers
worked together to develop a transferable program that will enable
Science and Technology Centers across the country to serve as vital
venues for public dialog on regional impacts of climate change.
In May, 2009, climate communicators, scientists, and members of
the public gathered at Arizona Science Center to learn about and
discuss projected impacts of climate variability and change in their
region. Local and regional experts shared a range of approaches that
community members might choose to help them deal with
climate-related challenges. Through conversations and surveys,
participants explored and articulated their values, and documented
their vision for reducing vulnerability to negative impacts of climate
variability and change.
