Middle School Climate Change Unit
Presented in partnership with the Arizona Geographic Alliance

Download Free in March, 2010!

This interdisciplinary unit focuses on recent Bark Beetle infestations
as evidence of climate change in the Arizona high country. Rising
temperatures, drought and human impact have all contributed to
dramatic infestations. This is a real exploration using custom maps,
historic and current precipitation and temperature data, and local
research to learn about Arizona climate change, forest health, and
bark beetles. Students will interpret data, identify patterns and make
predictions. Students will also have the opportunity to collect and
submit data to Arizona citizen science projects.
